NOTE: This review has been edited post written communication with the company owner. Background: I wanted help with preventative measures to assure cockroaches would not come again, as the weather is getting warmer. As I’m no professional myself, I turned to Pest Control Marbella. On the day of inspection, after about 10 minutes, the technician said that he had what he needed and that he would come back at another day and time. He left NO further instructions, and NO further instructions was shared over email. Their booking agent mentioned that there would be a "gas treatment" and that we would have to leave the apartment for 12 hours (which we were prepared to do). This gas treatment had a price tag of €300, which I paid, understanding that this would likely take time, effort and resources - but ultimately get the job done. A couple of days later, the technician came back and stayed for a total of 16 minutes, putting out some cockroach poison in various corners of the kitchen, in cabinets and under the sink. I asked the booking agent if I really was supposed to pay over €300 for a 16 minute visit. COMPANY ANSWER: That I had not emptied my kitchen properly so they could not perform the planned gas treatment and that was my own fault, so they did a "gel treatment" instead. NOTEWORTHY: * NO one told me anything about emptying my kitchen before the treatment. * During the treatment visit, the technician made NO comment regarding us not having emptied the kitchen. FINALLY: I asked if I could get a refund of the _difference_ between the work that was done (GEL) and the treatment I thought I would get (GAS), since I clearly did not NEED a gas treatment, and they also never performed a gas treatment. Their answer (before going on a ~5 day radio silence) was that Gas and Gel cost the same, and that it was my own fault I did not empty the kitchen ahead of the treatment, and that we could schedule a date for a gas treatment if I wanted one (which again, I did not need). [REVIEW ADDITION] I got a reply from the company owner. IN ESSENCE; * They refused to admit any fault on their side. * They claimed to have email proof of informing me about kitchen cleaning, providing multiple offers etc. * They then threatened me with LEGAL ACTION unless I took down my bad review from Google. I OFFERED THEM TWO OPTIONS: 1) Forward the emails they refer to, and I will publicly admit to being incorrect. OR... 2) Offer me a full refund, and I will forget the whole lawsuit threat + subpar customer experience. The company owner refused both (as no such emails exist). THE GOOD * The technician was nice. * Their response time was initially fast. * I have not had cockroaches since (but I also had no cockroaches prior to the treatment). THE BAD * Personally, I feel that €300 for ~16 minutes of work is heavily over charging for the time spent. * This is a company who refuses to admit any fault on their side (in my experience). THE UGLY * Getting public negative feedback from a customer (after being un-responsive for multiple days) and responding with 'remove the feedback or we will file a lawsuit' does not feel great as a customer. FINAL THOUGHTS My personal experience of this engagement is that I feel missled/tricked in what I THOUGHT that I would get and what I ended up getting. And even if this was NOT their intention - that is just how I feel as a customer. Granted, according to the company both options (gel and gas) supposedly does the same thing (which opens the question; why would ANYONE opt for the option where they have to vacate their home for 12 hours, if they can have the same effect in 15 minutes?). At the end of the day, I was ready to pay €300 to get a result, and it seems (thus far) I have gotten that result. I just think the way they communicated was sub optimal, and the lawsuit threat - instead of meeting half way and finding a mutual solution - did not make my customer experience any better.
